Braindogs

Tom Waits’ amazing songs, music and craziness is represented by one of the most talented soul-blues singers Ian Siegal and Ripoff Raskolnikov, Mischa Den Haring, Varga Lívius, Varga Laca, Frenk and Nagy Szabolcs. The band started out as a one-time tribute, performing for the first time on the A38 twenty years ago on Tom Waits’ birthday. The concert was such a success – for both the audience and the participiants – that the band still does it every year. The members are serious admirers of the mester. This production is distinguished from other tribute bands by the fact that the majority of the musicians are qualified songwriters in their own genres. Ian Siegal – from London – is considered by many to be the most succesful white soul-blues singer (even Tom Waits himself praised him for one of the records that fell into his hands somehow), and Ripoff Raskolnikov – from Graz – is a returning guest on hungarian stages for more than twenty years and one of the best songwriters in Central Europe. Mischa den Haring, the frontman of the best Dutch roots-rock formation T99, Livius Varga made his mark as a member of Quimby, and there’s one of the founder of Hiperkarma band Frenk, who has a rich solo career too. Last but not least, the pianist Szabolcs Nagy is one of the best hungarian blues pianists right now.
